The Home and the World

 Hello friends!

I am Bhavna Sosa from the Department of English MKBU. This blog is based on The Home and the World by Rabindranath Tagore. This task given by our ma'am Yesha Bhatt ma'am

"The Home and The World" by Rabindranath Tagore :

The Home and the World (in the original Bengali, Ghôre Baire) is a 1916 novel by Rabindranath Tagore. The book illustrates the battle Tagore had with himself, between the ideas of Western culture and revolution against the Western culture. These two ideas are portrayed in two of the main characters, Nikhilesh, who is rational and opposes violence, and Sandip, who will let nothing stand in his way from reaching his goals. These two opposing ideals are very important in understanding the history of the Bengal region and its contemporary problems. The novel was translated into English by the author's nephew, Surendranath Tagore, with input from the author, in 1919. The Home and the World was among the contenders in a 2014 list by The Telegraph of the 10 all-time greatest Asian novels.

Activities

Google translation of my own creative writing.

As a part of the activity all students wrote something, we can say creative writing. After that we translated it into Bangla language by using 'Google Translator'. It helped us to understand how machine translation works and what kind of mistakes it made. And how to work with machine translation. Here I am giving my creative writing and its google translation in Bangla.

Original write up :-

Pen said pick me up and anything else,

Only then will you know that there is anything in you.

Whatever you write in your mind on paper,

Then you will believe everything.

Don't you see someone's work and write your thoughts,

Only this will work in your life.

Translation Bangla :-

Kalama balala āmākē nā'ō āra kichu,

tabē'i bujhabēna āpanāra madhyē kichu āchē.

Kāgajē manē yā likhuna,

tāhalē tumi saba biśbāsa karabē.

Tumi ki kārō kāja dēkhē tōmāra bhābanā likhō nā,

śudhumātra ēṭi āpanāra jībanē kāja karabē.

Workshop by Budhaditya Ma'am

On 2-9-2022, Friday. We had an interesting Online workshop by Budhiditya Das ma'am. She is a formal student of the Department of English, MKBU. The workshop was about machine translation which is related to Home and the World by Rabindranath Tagore.

After a session by Budhiditya Das ma'am, we all wrote our names first in English and in Bangla language by translating it into Google translation.
